Listen to a New M.I.A. Song, "Bring the Noize"

Matangi out this fall, more tour dates announced

As promised, M.I.A. has shared the first taste from her long-delayed new album Matangi. Here's "Bring the Noize", as presented by BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe. She used a version of the song on the mix she made for the fashion line Kenzo earlier this year; a video is on its way. Listen to it over at Oh! Dope.

Sounds like M.I.A.'s been going through some of the same industry frustrations that Kanye West has discussed in his renegade leadup to Yeezus. "It's not easy, it's not easy. It's not easy. I keep finishing the record and handing it in, finishing the record and handing it in," she told Lowe about the record release cycle.

"It's just one of those things where I've given up at this point. I was literally going to start... putting out records from my bedroom," she said. This was my last stab at it-- I'm going to hand it in and wait for it to go out the way albums go out. If I didn't get it out right now, I would've definitely exploded.

In related M.I.A. news, Matangi, her fourth studio LP, is now scheduled for fall release through N.E.E.T./Interscope. She's also announced a string of tour dates surrounding her performance at this year's Pitchfork Music Festival-- find the schedule below, after the "Bring the Noize" art.

M.I.A.:

07-17 Montreal, Canada - Metropolis
07-18 Toronto, Canada - Danforth Music Hall
07-20 Detroit, MI - Royal Oak Music Hall
07-21 Chicago, IL - Pitchfork Music Festival
08-09 Saalburg, Germany - SonneMondSterne
08-10-11 Tokyo and Osaka, Japan - Summer Sonic
09-05-08 Isle of Wight, England - Bestival

Watch: R. Kelly Joined Jim James' Bonnaroo Superjam

Following Michael Winslow's guest spot at Animal Collective's Bonnaroo set, last night's Superjam had a tough act to follow. So it looks like My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James and John Oates took a page out of Phoenix's Coachella playbook: They brought in R. Kelly. (Also: Billy Idol, who sang T. Rex's "Bang a Gong".) Below, watch a portion of Kells' performance-- he sang Sam Cooke's iconic track "A Change Is Gonna Come" (via CoS).

M.I.A. will debut her new track "Bring the Noize" tomorrow via BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe. If you're feeling impatient, a snippet of the song is looping over on her website. She also shared the below Vines, which feature portions of the track's forthcoming music video.

M.I.A. to Debut New Track Next Week

New music from M.I.A. has been scarce as of late, save for the unreleased 2007 track and mix she's shared this year. On Monday, BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe will debut a new M.I.A. track on his show (which airs between 7 and 9 p.m. London time.)

It seems that the track will be "Bring the Noize". M.I.A.'s website features a looped animation promoting the song, and this Tweet also indicates as such. A version of "Bring the Noize" appeared on the mix M.I.A. made for the fashion line Kenzo earlier this year.

Watch: Merchandise Layer Intense, Surreal Live Footage in Dramatic New "Totale Nite" Video

Last month, Floridian pop explorers Merchandise shared a short film, "Rush of Blood", to accompany their great Totale Nite LP (released in April via Night People). Today they've shared the record's first proper music video, an expressive clip for eight-minute sprawler "Totale Nite" directed by the band themselves.

The video collects a surreal collage of intense live footage layered with numerous shots of frontman Carson Cox singing, gritting his teeth, and generally looking very dramatic. (There are also several appearances from sometime-saxophonist Chris Horn, pictured above.) Wait for the insects at the end; totale mind-fuck.

Merchandise have also announced a UK tour for August and September in addition to their current massive schedule.

Revisit "Rush of Blood" after the new video and dates.
